New England – Presidents

Description

A history-teacher often gets questions from students about the Presidents of America. Most of the time, the students know something about them (e.g. a president that was killed by a gunshot), but they also want to know the name. He/she decides to create an assignment for the students so that they can search for the information themselves, and they don’t have to ask him/her anymore.

Try to find out which president this is:

-         This president was elected for the first time in 1789. He played a major role in unifying the United States of America. That’s why they call him "Father of Our Country".

-         This president played a role in the Civil War of America. He fought with his Northern troops against the Southern troops. First elected in 1861. Elected for the second time, but soon after the election he was killed. He was against slavery.

-         Our next fellow gave his name to a furry bear. He acquired the Panama Canal Rights and won the Nobel Peace prize in 1906.

-         This Hollywood-star had enough of the film-industry. He was elected in 1981. He played a major role in the end of the Cold War.

-         A very well-known man these days. Elected in 2001. Afghanistan and Iraq were attacked under his reign. He has recently been elected for the second time, but his popularity is decreasing because of problems that keep going in Iraq.
